Background

One of our India headquartered clients from the IT/ITES industry with business operations in 35 countries across the globe was running a fragmented travel program. The local travel manager had the option to get their travel requirements organized through the local travel company of choice.

Challenges
The fragmented travel program resulted in the employee using varied booking platforms in the overseas markets. Other challenges included last minute bookings, poor visibility of cancelled tickets and absence of standard MIS. These factors deprived the compliance & cost management and duty of care for travelers.

Strategy

    We highlighted the benefits of a consolidated global travel program to our client and managing it from our centralized state of the art facility in India. In addition, we focused in the following areas -

  • Creation of geographical clusters and grouping countries within it with customized travel policies.
  • Source contents by emulating into local market fares as well as through concentrated fares.
  • Establish the Operations and Finance process workflows across the clusters.
  • Develop a proprietary HR feed to house the traveler profiles (especially for GDPR compliance)
  • In-country invoicing and virtual card payment solutions to comply with the local taxation laws.
  • Develop automated ‘pre’ (Duty of Care) and ‘post’ trip (MIS) modules on the cloud platform.
  • Appoint a Senior Program Manager to manage our client’s global travel program.

  • Program savings of 9% on air spend in the first quarter, post the commencement of trading.
